Mr Luke Cascarini graduated in medicine and surgery at the University of Wales, Cardiff in 2000. He holds a degree in dental surgery (Bristol,1995). He undertook general medical and surgical training including emergency medicine, elderly care medicine, vascular surgery and colorectal surgery and obtained his membership at the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He also holds Fellowship in Dental Surgery, Royal College of Surgeons, England.
He went on to take higher surgical training in oral & maxillofacial surgery in the south Thames region including Guy’s Hospital, King’s College Hospital, Queen Victoria’s Hospital in East Grinstead, Canterbury Hospital Kent, and St.George’s Hospital in London. He is part of the south London Head & Neck Cancer Group and provides a specialist service in oral cancer and reconstruction.
Whilst Mr Cascarini can see and treat the full range of oral and maxillofacial, head and neck conditions, his special interests are Head and Neck Oncology and Temporomandibular Jaw Joint Dysfunction and Disease (TMJ).
He has published over fifty papers, presented nationally and internationally, and lectured internationally in the subjects of oral & maxillo-facial surgery. In addition, Mr.Cascarini is co-author of the ‘Oxford Specialist handbook of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and is currently working on the second edition. He is co-author of Elsever’s two volume textbook, ‘Maxillofacial Surgery’, third edition, and is co-author of ‘Principals of Surgery - Everything you need to know but were frightened to ask!’ He has also published several chapters in other surgical text books.
Mr. Cascarini has finished his tenure of five years as Assosiate Editor of BJOMS and remains a reviewer of the British Journal of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. He is Section Editor of the International Journal of Maxillofacial Surgery. He continues to keep his practice up to date, attending many conferences and courses each year.
